Narrative Journal Entry-Example
I went to the beach today. It was so peaceful after so much chaos, from outside sources and inside. There on the beach, the stillness filled me, made me relax for the first time in months.
The spray from the water cooled my heated face that was still warm from the argument with father again. He always, ALWAYS has to have the last word. Even if I had already started to go out the door, ready to end the argument. And I was never prepared for an argument with father, I was always doing something else, this last argument started while I was trying to read in the living room. Although Grandma always told me the best way to have an argument is to do it when the other person isn't ready, then you have the best advantage to get whatever you want. But I have never wanted to win an argument like that.
As I walked across the sand, I was worried there would be pieces of shell or other things that could bite into the tender skin of my soles. But it was all for nothing, when I looked down, there was nothing but warm, toasty colored sand. It sent a warmth against my feet that contrasted with the cool ocean breeze that tugged at my golden locks. Here, there was truly peace, just the waves breaking, the gulls crying, and my own soft breath, growing heavy now from my walking. It was a beautiful moment, or so I thought.

King Henry sat in his dark room staring out the large window. Snow was softly falling, but it was not touching him with its beauty. Nothing had been able to touch him since he had lost Jane Seymour in crib death. And his son. His sweet son that barely lived an hour. Nothing touched him since, not the Kingdom, not the snow, not anything. It was all falling to dust. And he couldn't stop it. But he could feel himself slowly coming back to himself, but it wasn't anything he could put his finger on.
He looked up as Henry Brandon stepped into the dark room. Brandon was his truest friend and most trusted advisor. He had slowly been breaking through his seclusion, and today, seeing his friends wan face seemed to push through what little was left. "I want to throw a ball for Christmas. A grand ball. Invite everyone. Including my daughters."
Preparations were quickly made for the ball. He sent new material to both of his daughters for pretty new dresses to be made. He sent purple to Elizabeth and dark blue color to Mary. The blue cloth was returned to him, but the purple was kept and made into a very beautiful dress he was told.
On the night of the ball, he sat in his grand throne as the reception line was presented to me. He greeted everyone politely as they were announced. He sat up a little straighter when Princess Elizabeth was announced. He held out his hand to her. "Elizabeth, my darling one, come and greet your King properly."

When Katherine woke up on her first day of work, she was not sure what she was doing at all. not sure what she was doing. She had just been recently married, when her husband had been called to war. She had sat at home for the last couple of weeks missing him. But then she started to think that maybe sitting at home was not the way to live her life. So she had decided to look into getting a job at the local factory. When she had arrived and asked for a job, the manager had offered her the day shift. She was to work from 7:00 am-2:00 pm. She would be paired with a few other women. She was to bring her own lunch and had to wear pants.
The last part had almost made her faint. Wear pants? She never did that, she was a good girl. She sighed softly and looked at the clock. It would not due to be late on her first date. She got up, showered and dressed in her new slacks, pretty blue blouse with pearl buttons, her new hat and her pocket book. With a sliding on of gloves she went outside to the truck that her husband had taught her to drive and went to the factory. They made canteens and that was the reason she took the job. Maybe one she made would find its way to her husband. She had been interested in the job because of the romance of it.
But when she walked through the huge double doors, handbag clutched between her fingers, her excitement did a jump again. She was here, at a job! She was greeted by security who escorted her to the manager. She then signed various paper work, and given a locker. Then she was taken to the floor and shoved at a woman "She will show you what to do!" The small man left and Katherine turned to the woman in front of her. "Good Morning!"
